Saltwater Performing Arts, formerly St Marys Children’s Theatre, is a collaboration of performing arts programs offered to ages 5 to thru adult. It provides an opportunity for aspiring and seasoned actors to experience the wonderment of the theatre in full-scale theatrical productions performed on stage in front of a public audience. This is a volunteer based entity and there is no fee to participate in the productions.
The participants are involved in all aspects of the art including: stage management, costumes, hair and make-up, lighting and sound and general house management under the guidance of theatre mentors.
As a 501(c)(3) volunteer organization, SPA gladly accepts donations to assist in procuring materials for the shows and providing scholarships to the workshops.
Through fee-based workshops offered at The Friese Studio of Music & Performing Arts and Lisa Allen’s Dance Works, participants can hone their skills in preparation for the upcoming productions. SPA Jr. is geared toward youth ages 6 - 10 and utilizes one-act shows to train the young actors on all aspects of the stage. SPA Mainstage. is for ages 9-18 and works on material from the upcoming main-stage productions, providing in-depth training for aspiring actors and actresses. While our Encore group is for all ages (depending on the production). This group is great for the stage veterans to show off their stage skills.
